  1. In defense of ‘weeds’…

“Weeds are nature’s graffiti.” Janice Maeditere

“What we call a weed is in fact merely a plant growing where we do not want it.” E.J. Salisbury, The Living Garden, 1935

“May all your weeds be wildflowers.” Author Unknown

  2. One of my favorites also. Marcy Cunckleman has lots of it growing in her “Safe Haven” and its abundant right now in quite a few woods and parks, isn’t it? Thanks for sharing, Kate.
Thank you John English for those quotes, LOVE the last one!!

  3. The colour is unreal! I leave them grow where they come up and they add that colour when everything else seems tired….
Pair it with Feather Reed grass planted in front of it, for a nice combo…

@ John E….The quote by E.J. Salisbury is my favorite!!

  4. My favorite too and I just found one that was pink….going to try save the seeds and see what happens….once the flowers turn brown and look like little paint brushes, you can scatter them around…It was a wonderful year for this and the other NATIVES,(what they are calling them in the nurseries), but now they aren’t weeds like in the past. Lots of pollinators and butterflies esp love them….birds later eating the seeds…Also look great in a vase with goldenrod and asters…It’s a good weed.
