Dorothy laid her third egg this morning at 4:04am. In this snapshot, she’s leaving to eat breakfast.

She paused on the front perch …

…and E2 came into the picture to cover the eggs.

At 16 years old, every egg is a miracle for this matriarch peregrine falcon. Her second egg on April 4 spawned a follow-up Post-Gazette article and a video on KDKA.  Her celebrity is growing.

  1. Oh Kate, this is such encouraging news. Let’s hope that we’ll have hours of viewing excitement to come at the Cathedral of Learning nest.

Is there any news about Dori and Louie from Gulf Towers? I understand that they are not nesting there but have they been seen elsewhere? Just praying that they are doing well.

    1. Pa Gal, we still have no idea where the Downtown peregrines are nesting though see them downtown.

  2. Thanks, Kate. So glad to hear that they are around just not at Gulf. Hope they have chosen a safe site for their nest!

  3. Wow! Yay for egg number 3 and maybe there will be no egg binding this year for our girl!! Thanks for all you do, Kate. ??????????

  4. I’m so pleased to hear that Dorothy was able to lay egg number 3. I was keeping my fingers crossed that she didn’t become egg bound again this year. She’s such a miraculous bird!

  5. Re: Gulf Tower … perhaps Dori and Louie finally had enough after putting up with all those crazy LED lights they installed atop the building a couple of years ago?
Re: Dorothy … age defiant hope. Just wonderful to see.

  6. Dorothy has certainly captured the attn. of the Hays Eagles fans! I just checked Pixcontroller, and all the “chat” is about her! Good. More attn.=more knowledge of our beautiful avian cohabitants!

  7. Oh Dorothy! Way to go, lets hope all goes well. And thanks to you Kate for keeping us informed.

  8. This is truly a miracle in my eyes. Defying the odds? Praying all goes well. You go Dorothy & E2! Hope all is well with Louie & Dori-Gulf Tower Peregrines. Thanks so much for sharing Kate. 🙂
