Pitt Peregrines:

Because his development is delayed, we can’t predict when the Cathedral of Learning peregrine chick will fledge but we can always get together to watch his parents and talk about peregrines.

Beginning June 19 I’ll be at the Schenley Plaza tent (most days) during lunch hour to watch peregrines in my favorite setting.  Check the Pitt Peregrine Fledge Watch calendar for meeting times.   It’ll be a Peregrine Fan Reunion.

Westinghouse Bridge Peregrine Banding:

The PA Game Commission will band the two peregrine nestlings at the Westinghouse Bridge on Monday June 22 at 9:00am.  PennDOT and the banding team will use a bucket truck to access the nest.  The nest is under the bridge deck.  Norfolk Southern Railroad prohibits access under the Westinghouse Bridge.  Click here for a map showing a sidewalk viewing location on the nearby East-Pittsburgh-McKeesport Boulevard Bridge.

  1. Watching Silver just now (Monday, around 11:30 am) who has made it up to the green rail. Keeping my fingers crossed.

  2. I looked at the archives. fuzzy is getting adventurous. I am so happy he is catching up. Good Mama Dorothy took excellent care of him.

  3. Tuesday 645 am to 7 am one at the nest site and one on NW turret of county court house (parent?)

    r

  4. Silver spent much of the afternoon off-camera (video) perched at the far right of the grassy strip. I see someone changed the angle of the video. Thank you! (It was a bit boring watching his right pantaloon…)

  5. Yes … thank you , whoever you are, for zooming out/ panning to the other side. Thank you.
Silver has “found” his/her toes , and the his/her wings.
Whenever she/he straddles that “AstroTurf” bar, his/her wings now flex/move below — BELOW — the talons. And Silver does not have balance issues anymore.
    YEAH !!! Go Silver.

    Questions : Food :
Will the parents start to “throw” dead food at/ before Silver = “plug it your-self, rip it apart yourself…. ” = no longer “spoon feeding” Silver. As cruel as this, Silver has to learn this.
Will Falcons ever bring “live” food? Like cats in the wild — they bring mice, and the kittens “learn” to kill and eat?
    Just thinking.
    Thank you.
