This morning my son and I were outside, me leisurely drinking coffee, him counting the minutes until we would be leaving for his first overnight at Camp.
All was well – I got up to go inside for food and all of a sudden my son starts yelling hysterically, “MUM! A bird fell!! A bird fell!!”
I rush back outside and there, right on our back stoop, is a Starling missing it’s head and a wing. 🙁 Ouch!! Breakfast was caught and then somehow – dropped.
Oh, the lessons in Life our resident Cooper’s Hawk is teaching my son. 🙂
I was privileged to see an osprey nest on my families trip to Yellowstone. I was glad that I was lucky enough to spot it, since it’s the first osprey nest that I can recall seeing that wasn’t built on a man-made nesting platform. Somehow it seems more beautiful sitting on a natural rock.

I’m glad to hear that cooper’s hawks are doing their part to minimize the impacts of invasive species 🙂 I hope that our cooper’s hawk will return, because I haven’t seen him in these parts for a long time. 🙁
