Forest Canary


Here’s a beautiful little bird from southern Africa.

The forest canary (Serinus scotops) is a seed eater who can be attracted to backyard bird feeders.

Right now it’s spring where he lives. Time to lay eggs.

After yesterday’s snow it’s hard to imagine this is possible — even on the other side of the world.

    That was all I could think of when I saw that picture. AND…what a pretty bird it is.

  2. It’s Sunny here, and just a big chilly. But as far as birds go, the only thing that I see are Ravens and the usual doves, pigeons and house sparrows. I also just finished reading “The Big Year” and may try for a New Mexico Big Year in 2012.
