Stinky Fruit

It’s time to tiptoe on the sidewalk at Flagstaff Hill.  The female ginkgo trees are dropping their smelly fruit on Schenley Drive.

Ginkgo fruit smells like stinky feet or vomit but the nuts inside are edible.

  1. When I was a kid ginkgo trees lined one of our neighborhood streets. There were tons of kids we would divide up into teams, gather the ginkgo fruit and then use them as grenades in our “war.” Yuck!
