  1. Yay!! So excited!! Curious to see how Ecco will do and if he will incubate. Also Kate, do you have the video of her laying the egg. I literally stopped watching at 11:45AM and then she laid it lol

  2. Dear Kate, I am happy that Morela laid an egg. I will be watching to see how many she will have and then what she will do after they hatch. I hope that this year will be great. Have you heard anything about Terzo? Ecco will be a wonderful Dad and a good provider. It will be a very interesting season to watch and learn about falcons.

  3. Ecco was at the nest site right before the egg arrived. He seemed interested in what was going on.

  4. Is there something wrong with the sound at this nest? I hear static, but nothing from them when they were both in the nest before she laid her egg.

    1. The camera microphone generates those static-y sounds which are only audible to those who watch the camera. We can’t fix this while the birds are nesting so it must wait until late this year. We decided to leave the sound on so we can hear the birds when they make noise.

  5. Luckily, I tuned in while Morela was trying, it seemed, to decide what was happening. Then she just picked the center of where her egg is now and decided to go it alone. It seemed like a painful process, or at least unexpected. Now she seems to be worried that she will break the egg if she rests on it. So she has been standing slightly squatting over it. I posted a Statement from me on FB.

    1. Unlike bald eagles peregrines don’t begin incubation until the female has laid her next-to-last egg. Until that happens both parents guard the egg(s) but do not “sit” on them. One of them stays close though you might see them on camera.

  6. So happy that our new couple is off to a great start. Hoping for a “normal” season this year and look forward to meeting up for fledge around Memorial Day.

  7. So I WALKED in the apartment at 4:00 pm on SATURDAY, First day of Spring and maybe MORELA heard me although I’m on Murray Avenue in Squirrel Hill and she got up from sitting her egg and there are two!!! Tell me if anyone saw the actual scene.
