Even though it’s September Pittsburgh’s winter crow flock is building in the East End. I don’t know where they spend the day and I’m not sure where they spend the night but last evening I counted 600 flying by while I was eating dinner.
This video is just the tail end of them.
I noticed them yesterday while getting gas at the GetGo on Baum — they seemed to be gathering in the trees, probably to decide where to roost for the night!
I was wondering if you’d seen them yet, Kate.
I live in greenfield and they fly over every evening headed towards homestead
I am not on Pitt’s campus much anymore, so does this mean the crows no longer roost on campus like they did? I remember many times going to and from work dodging the crows and their “surprises” all over the sidewalks, etc. ?
The crows love to roost on Pitt’s campus but when their numbers get too high for a particular area they are “urged” to move along. Last year they peaked in early/mid Decemberat Pitt and moved Downtown and moved in January. Here’s where they went

@Kate – thank you for the information! Somehow I missed that blog entry. Interesting they finally moved away from campus.
