Is it my imagination, or does it seem that Terzo sits the eggs as much as, or even more often than Hope does?
Robin, yes Hope & Terzo share nest duty pretty evenly — except she incubates all night which is normal.
Thanks for all the great info about peregrines; I have learned a lot from you.
Is there something wrong with one of the adults at the Pitt nest? About 10 minutes ago I saw one with wings outstretched in the sun, then kind of stumbling around and finally is back on its legs. It has been panting hard; maybe it is too hot? Just now it has gone back to the shade to cover the eggs.
Judith, nothing is wrong. It is hot at the nest so the peregrine is sunbathing and panting — what they normally do in heat. See this Peregrine FAQ: http://www.birdsoutsidemywindow.org/peregrine-faqs/question-why-is-this-bird-face-down-on-her-nest/
Thanks for your quick and informative response. Sunbathing — wow! I hope s/he feels better now.
Is there something wrong with the microphone at the Cathedral of Learning nest?
Vicki, sometimes the microphone has a lot of static, then it corrects itself.
Yes, I’m used to the static every time the wind blows. For the last few days, though, there isn’t even static.
Vicki, I will let the webcam people know. If they can fix it remotely, then all is good. If not, then the microphone will remain broken until nesting season is over because we cannot disturb the birds. (Frankly, I doubt it can be fixed remotely.)
