Sunday’s Fledge Watch was very boring at the Cathedral of Learning . The weather was beautiful but the winds were gusty and the peregrine chick, C1, spent the entire time sleeping at the nest.  As far as I know, she didn’t fledge yesterday.

Will she fly today?  I hope so.

Come to the tent at Schenley Plaza today (June 13) and see what the peregrines are up to.  I’ll be there from noon to 2:00pm.  Check the Events page for additional schedule information.

  1. The past 4 or so days C1 has been taking a siesta at lunchtime. She and Hope seem to come out once the nest is not longer in full sunlight. I left at 3pm yesterday and she was sitting on the left side rail of the nest with her eyes closed. Got home at 4 and of course no one was in the nest. I’m going to stop by after work and hope that there will be some interesting activity then.

  2. When it’s dark out, is it unusual for C1 not to be in the nest or perched near the nest in view of one of the cameras?

    1. Lori, at this age C1 can perch anywhere she wants. It is normal not to perch/roost in the nest once ledge walking has begun. (To me, the biggest surprise is that she sill hasn’t fledged. I am impatient.)
